We took the opportunity to ask Jet a couple of questions, here’s what he had to say:
What got you into advertising?
By chance. I just graduated from Cal State Long Beach and moved backed to SD. I didn’t have any connections with the design community here, so I took an internship class at SDSU to branch out with the design community. The professor felt I had a really good portfolio, and told me to interview at Campbell Mithun. I interned there and never left the industry after that. Now it’s 10 years later.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
The ability to learn anything and everything. Nothing stands out, but I would love to dabble with anything out there. I’m a pretty curious cat.
What’s your favorite spot in San Diego?
Wherever my favorite friends and family are, I’m not too big on the destination. Just the people I get to spend time with.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
My grandfather, he passed away before I was born. I would have loved to meet him and talked to him about how his family life was back then.
What’s one of your favorite ad campaigns and why?
It’s a given that Apple has been having really good campaigns, which I truly enjoy. If I had to choose something non-Apple I would pick Volkswagen. Over the years, they have created a lot of different and unique campaigns that have been memorable. They seem to stray away from the norm and do things that are non-traditional.
If you could go anywhere in the world on a two week vacation, where would you go?
I would love to visit the east side of the Mediterranean. Go to Greece, stop by Croatia, end up in Italy and visit their countryside.
What’s the best way to spend a Sunday?
If I had my way, I would sleep in. Stay in my PJs and watch football all day.
